  
The Virtual Souk elsouk offers handmade products by Artisans of Morocco, Tunisia and Lebanon not having access to the international market.
The artisans chosen for the Virtual Souk site "elsouk" are selected by local NGOs in light of their skills and their economic situation. Our aim is to present the work of 5 artisans from each country and souk. Each artisan may sell up to 10 products, including his "masterpiece," his classic product range, and products to order. This last category refers to a special range of products that can be tailor-made to suit the customer’s wishes (in terms of color, design, etc.)
Since most of the artisans are poor, illiterate, and sometimes geographically isolated, providing communications systems (transportation, telephone, fax, etc.) is a central concern. In Morocco and Tunisia, state-owned companies provide transportation to most towns and villages, so that once the artisan’s product is ready for sale, he or she can bring it along to the NGO for quality control and product classification (includes price, description, photos, etc.) The product is then ready to be sold on the elsouk.com internet site.
